Campus Life at the University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is a leading public research university in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England where many famous historians, scientists and celebrities have made their bones. It was founded in 18 1974 as the highly regarded Yorkshire College of Science. In 18 1984 it was merged with the Leeds University School of medicine and was re-designated as the University of Leeds.

The University has an enrollment of over thirteen thousand students who include many international students. Leeds boasts its prominent role in the academic world as it houses the faculties of the leading British universities, including those like University of Cambridge and University of London. Leeds prides itself on its wide variety of locations and academic fields. It has been a home to many eminent personalities in both history and politics. Many of these have gone on to become world leaders, like John Major MP, who held his seat in Leeds.

In addition to housing some of the worlds best and brightest academics, the University of Leeds also provides a great deal of assistance to students who are just starting out in their academic careers. There are many different professional development programs which can be attended by incoming students. These programs help students prepare for their futures by giving them the experience they need to get a job in the field of their choice. After students graduate, they often find work in the fields in which they major, such as journalism, law, engineering or commerce.
